Just a little porn I forgot about.

11 August 2007

Most of this is stuff I’ve been to lazy to post. I didn’t make any of these recipes up.

Did I tell you my biggest vegan chef crush, Lolo, is coming out with a cookbook? It’s going to be published the guys over at Herbivore. She has a slew of kids from the ppk forum testing for her. I’ve done a few recipes, but I’ve been lazy for the most part. This is her Crispy Sweet N Sour Tofu. I’ll let you know when the book comes out. It’s going to be killer.

So for my friend’s birthday/last day in town, I felt inspired to stay up all night so she could have the one thing she missed since becoming vegan — a good, homemade cinnamon roll. And thanks to rachaelrayforever’s cinnamon roll recipe, Brit got her cinnamon rolls. Warning: the dough for these rises twice, so you definitely have to have time to dedicate to these guys. But man oh man — they’re totally worth it. There was also a cream cheese icing involved, but they didn’t last long enough to get photos.

More porn after the jump.

Apple Cinnamon Pancakes

3 May 2007

I’ve been caught up in exams, but I have a whole bunch of buckwheat waffle & pancake mix, so I’ve been experimenting. This one, by far, has been my favorite.

I figured if I whipped up a batch of pancake batter (I always add a splash of maple syrup and a couple shakes of cinnamon to it), mixed about a tablespoon or so of it with some applesauce & cinnamon, and drizzled it on the pancake while it was cooking, it would turn out. I was right. It was so good with a little Earth Balance.

Here it is cooking…

Busboys & Poets and Breakfast

18 April 2007

First of all, I went to Busboys and Poets last night and had the Vegan pizza, which I can’t say was more than just good. It wasn’t phenomenal, but they do use vegan cheese & it does taste like pizza. It comes with typical pizza-esque veggies (peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach) and is like $10. I wouldn’t recommend making a trip to Busboys just to eat it, but if you ever find yourself there (and very hungry — it was huge) it’s not a bad option. But in all honesty, I wish I had gotten a salad or something.

(I also saw two shows at the 930 club last night: the Books with Todd Reynolds & Ratatat along with Hexa and Despot. The Books were absolutely incredible, as was Todd Reynolds. Hexa was just okay. Despot was pretty cool. Ratatat would have been a lot better had dumb drunk people not gotten on stage and proceeded to make fools out of themselves. In fact, Ratatat actually stopped a song to tell people to get off the stage. The crowd was so obnoxious that I actually left early.)

Today I made cranberry pumpkin pancakes for breakfast. They were delicious! (Sorry the picture isn’t that great. Not much natural light.)

Breakfast for Dinner

12 April 2007

Sometimes you need scrambled tofu and cranberry toast. I did tonight.

PS. I’m in love with Isa Chandra Moskovitz. (Shh. Don’t tell her!)

Graham Cracker Muffins

9 April 2007

I’ve been craving Graham Crackers lately, so when I woke up this morning and saw Zelineuh’s pictures of her version of these on her blog, I decided I had to make these.

I halved the white sugar, used EnerG egg replacer and added blueberries to half the batch.

Such a good idea!

PS: I will probably be posting a lot of other things that I’ve made in the past few months. I have a whole bunch of pictures from previous recipes, so I’ll share those on lazy days.
